Link as inspired by Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link (my first video game way back when) for a show at OhNo!Doom in Chicago. Experimenting in a new, more naturalistic style in my illustration. 18x24, oil on wood panel
Within your life-time, your art will realize credibility. Perhaps not in an 'exacting' fashion, yet a strikingly, similar shock. It is within 'our time' to realize final and global 'Contact' Your creations are already tuning themselves to suggest that your followers are entertained by the approach of such a so very different, life experience. One that has everything to do with interactions...with other intelligent....'interplanetary' species."
This is awesome. I also love Zelda 2, as it was one of my first video games. The whole vibe and style of the first two Zelda games for the original NES are the absolute best to me. I like your portrayal. My only question: How come to you leave out Link's trademark hat? Also, I love how you made his sword and shield look similar to those on the game covers. By the way, I made an animated fake preview for a fake Zelda movie. Each shot is based on illustrations from the first two Zelda games. Here is the link: [link] If the Link doesn't work, just type jsh18r into the youtube search and it will come up. jsh18r is my youtube account so all of my videos will come up.
thanks! I debated on the hat and in the end I felt like it was a bit... silly looking for the Link I was picturing. I also wasn't sure about adding the chainmail sleeves (and still can't decide) so I did the other without
Oh, I see. I actually just so happened to comment on your latest Link painting before I check this message. I asked again about the hat, not realizing that you already answered my question here. Sorry.
As always like the look of your work. Also like the "new approach" as I can see your hand in it moreso than in the past. My funny comment is that Link here looks a bit like the guy who played Eb on "Green Acres"
