This is great! It looks like it would belong on the cover of one of the books!

Mere human vs mere human... My favorite type of combat in the Warhammer 40k universe.

yeah, I did a revised version from some notes the AD sent. The odd thing is that I've also seen this version used online, not sure if it may have been a foreign language edition?

Eh, oh well... When the book came out I stared at the cover and wondered who drew them... Guess I have an answer now :D

Well, I guess GW or someone wanted to show off both of them... xD

Screw Commissar Yarrick!!! Ibrim Gaunt all the way!!! Although my Chaos Brethren would carve my chest open for saying that I don't care, this is spectacular so full of energy, dynamic movement and raw seriousness and the fact that it is traditional art and in oils takes the cake. Too many works are computer done these days. Well done man you deserve this talent, it is so rare and needs to be shared.

Neat use of venusian style masks and mempo face masks to create an interesting scene.

I've never read any of Gaunt's Ghost's yarns but I'm sure it was a fun assignment.

Great work on the commissar. Love the Warhammer 40K Universe. Gotta read Gaunt's Ghost series, Dan Abnett is a great author.

Oh My fucking Coffee! 'Tis was a most awesome book with a great cover. Why haven't I found this earlier?

Though, out of sheer principle I have to slag you off for giving the Pactsmen Stahlhelms. "Putting on the Reich" is a trope on the verge of cliché.

Still awesomesauce to find the original artist on dA.

haha, glad you liked it. With Warhammer being a pretty firmly established IP over the past 20-30 years, there's not much choice but to adhere to the established character designs though. Maybe it wasn't *quite* so cliche when they first designed them ;)

Actually, Blood Pact only feature in Dan Abnett's Gaunt's Ghosts book, and apart from one article in White Dwarf, also written by Abnett, they haven't been represented visually before. At least not canonically.
Sry for the nerd-out here...

must have been conversions I saw then. They sent me a big ol' reference packet to keep the look consistent. yeah, I used to work in a game store and really liked Necromunda, but I always felt I was out of my depth in 40k so I didn't get too far with it.

Could be. Dave Taylor's rendition of the 'Pact as minis was the first one, as far as I know, so it is virtually seen as canonical.
Sad to hear you didn't get into 40k. Necromunda is only such a small part of the whole universe. :D

this is... mindbogglingly amazing.
expression, clothing, lighting, detail, depth, scenario, wackiness...
i'm just listing a few of the things that are awesome.

who are these people? do they have a story or is it up to my imagination?

:salute:
impressive work, sir.
also, congrats for the DD on madness of flowers, you are thoroughly deserving. :)

thanks! haha, they're not my characters, there's aloooooot of back story. This is a cover for a novel series based on Warhammer 40k, which is a SF strategy game. I've played the game a bit but haven't read much of the books
